The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
–Proverbs 29:25 ESV
The Love God Greatly study on Fear & Anxiety has been a fruitful addition to my year. If you have never dug in to one of their studies, you can access them on their website or through the YouVersion Bible.
I have found myself returning to this verse this month as we approach some decisions for our family. I think in the past, in a similar situation, I may have sought a lot of advice and input from others. This time around, I have found myself keeping close to God and the Word on this one. I recognize that the more I seek the opinions (and implicitly the approval) of others, I get easily drowned in them. If I am not careful, I find myself spending more time wading through their ideas rather than being buoyed by the voice of God.
The reality is that in the storms, in the crises, in the decisions, seeking the refuge of our Father in heaven is the only way to avoid the waves of opinion and stay in the safety of His lifeboat.
I’m grateful I had a little time last month to create with stamps from the July 2018 kit by ByTheWell4God and the Crazy Waves stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop. I have come back to this page quite a few times and know I will continue to meditate on this verse in the weeks of decision making to come.
